Happy Friday!! 🙂 I can officially say that the weather outside has been frightful these past few days. With subzero temperatures (it’s currently-3 degrees!) and snow covered streets, it is safe to say that winter has officially arrived. On the bright side…literally…the sun finally came out yesterday afternoon, and a beautiful sun dog painted itself across the sky. I had to take off my mittens to snap this shot, but it was oh so beautiful!
I mentioned in yesterday’s post that I’m going to give one lucky reader a prize, and the prize is…drum roll…a CD that I’m literally obsessed with…Audrey Assad’s “Fortunate Fall.” It’s honestly been the only thing I’ve listened to in my car since I purchased it a little over a month ago, and it would be my pleasure to give this to someone for Christmas! So…to enter my first ever prize giveaway…comment at the end of this post or send me an email using the “Contact Me” tab telling me what your favorite Christmas song is by Monday, December 9 at 12:00 pm CST. It’s that easy! I will then announce the winner (or you can choose to be anonymous!) next Friday, and have the CD sent to you ASAP 🙂 So if you’re interested in this CD, or think that a loved one might like it, I encourage you to comment or send me an email!
While I’m talking about Christmas, has anyone seen this amazing Piano Guys video? I’ve always enjoyed their videos and particularly enjoyed this rendition of “Angels We Have Heard on High.”
Embarrassing story time…earlier this week I was working out at the gym and “Sexy and I Know It” started playing on my iPod (it’s got a great beat, okay?!). Anyways…as I was on the elliptical I thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be hilarious if I wrote a rendition of ‘Catholic and I Know It?’ So I got all excited and came home to YouTube a karaoke version in order to start brainstorming lyrics, but much to dismay I discovered there’s already a few “Catholic and I Know It” videos that exist. Alas, they are quite funny, so check ’em out 🙂

On a similar exercise note, a few months ago I mentioned in a post that I would announce when I added a 1 kg “baby” weight to my bar during the biceps track at Body Pump… and…I did it last night! I guarantee that I looked ridiculous by that last rep as my biceps felt like they were on fire, but I felt so accomplished knowing I lifted 2 kg (4.4 pounds) more than I’m used to during that grueling ~3.5 minute song!
On a more serious note, my number five post made me realize the importance of having people in our lives who can help us to reach our goals -whether they be fitness, faith, etc. Had I not told my Body Pump friend that I was going to add the extra weight before the biceps song, I probably would have chickened out. Just as you might go to the dentist or eye doctor every few months to “check up” on how things are going, ask your friends or family members to “check up” with you every so often if there are particular areas in your life in which you feel you are struggling. You might even come to realize that they have a similar struggle or goal as you, and it’s usually easier (and tolerable!) to go through something when you’re not alone!
It’s so hard for me to believe that Advent is finally here and Christmas is just 19 days away! This weekend I’m hoping to finish up the last of my homework, relax, and stay warm…and maybe bake some Christmas cookies! Stay tuned for a special guest post next Tuesday as the Fruit of the Holy Spirit Spotlight Series continues 🙂 And if you missed this week’s post, click here to see what I had to say about modesty!
Any fun plans for your weekend? If so, let me know, I’d love to hear about it! Happy Friday!
