Happy Saturday! This week’s volume of 7 Quick Takes might be one of my favorites to date as I have two very exciting updates to share with you. The first update is that I finally found a job! I received the exciting phone call last week Monday, and after hearing the words, “Joan, the hiring manager was very impressed with your interview, we’d love to add you to our team,” I let out an excited, “Yay!” Maybe not my most professional moment, but I was honestly so thrilled to be offered this dietitian position that I couldn’t contain my happiness!
As if getting a new job wasn’t exciting enough, I also learned that my first week of work training will take place in Arizona, so I am looking forward to spending some time in temperatures that are above freezing! I’ve never been to Arizona before, so I am also excited to check this state off of my traveling bucket list!
Now for my second update…this update is one that might come as a bit of a surprise as I haven’t shared too many details about the amazing man I’ve been dating for the past few months, but…drum roll…I am engaged! I am planning on sharing more specifics about the proposal and my amazing fiancé, Matt, in a future post, but for now I will tell you that he is absolutely incredible, and we are so excited for our July 2015 wedding! 🙂
To celebrate our engagement, Matt and I road tripped across North Dakota and Minnesota to share the good news with our family and friends. On the last night of our trip, we decided to venture to Bentleyville in Duluth which is the largest Christmas lights display in the United States. This winter wonderland left us oohing and aahing as we sipped on hot chocolate and stared in amazement at a Christmas tree that had over 100,000 twinkling lights!
When we got back to Minneapolis we decided to continue our celebration with a 10 course dinner at Travail Kitchen and Amusements. Each course consisted of a unique dish with an equally unique presentation. My least favorite item on the menu was the chicken liver lollipop, and my favorite course was the adorable mini bread loaves with delicious homemade butter – so tasty!
It’s almost hard for me to believe that tomorrow is already the second Sunday of Advent! How is your Advent going so far? I’m so thankful for the Blessed is She Advent journal as it’s really helped me to focus in on the daily readings each morning! One of my favorite songs to listen to during Advent is “O Magnum Mysterium,” so if you’re looking for a tune to help you quiet your heart, I’d encourage you to listen to it!
Well, that’s all I’ve got for you this week! I hope that your Advent is off to a wonderful start and that you have a fabulous rest of your weekend. God bless! 🙂
Happy Saturday! 🙂
