Happy Friday! It felt like summer yesterday here in good ol’ North Dakota as temperatures reached nearly 60 degrees! I went for a run to celebrate and didn’t even mind that my shoes and socks were completely soaked and muddy by the end because I WAS OUTSIDE! 🙂
I wrote a few weeks ago in this post that my friend was interested in starting some sort of a running for intentions group. Well…this week she put this idea into action and created the Facebook page “Running for More” in addition to the Twitter handle @RunningForMore. So feel free to check it out and share your reasons for running whether they be a specific intention or health goal or to simply get outside and enjoy the splendor of the outdoors!
This month is National Nutrition month, and Wednesday was National Registered Dietitian Nutritionist day, so a couple of my girlfriends and I went out in the evening to celebrate. I mentioned to our server that our reason for being out was to celebrate being dietitians, and jokingly asked him if we could get a free dessert because of it. His reply was “What’s a dietitian?” No free cake for us…
I might have written about this before, but if you haven’t checked out the Laudate app before, check it out! I am totally loving the daily readings podcasts and the pray-as-you-go reflections because it’s a way for me to listen to the daily readings without actually reading them 🙂 It works well to listen to these as I get ready for work and then I can ponder the readings during my day. I especially loved hearing that this verse was in yesterday’s gospel:
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” – Matthew 7:7
It’s official…my thesis defense is scheduled for just over a month, so I am officially in go-mode. In addition to presenting a nearly two hour presentation to my four committee members, I have to develop and present a scientific poster at a poster presentation and be ready to answer questions regarding my research. I must say that writing this paper has been the most difficult assignment and quite possibly one of the most demanding endeavors of my life, but it has definitely made me more disciplined and appreciate the guidance of my amazing advisor!
Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of Pope Francis’ papacy (check out my Habemus Papam post from last year to see how excited I was), and I was so impressed by what he tweeted to his millions of followers: “Please pray for me.”
Praying for you Pope Francis!
Well, it’s time to get ready for work here, but I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend! I will be doing a bit of traveling tomorrow to attend a family member’s bachelorette party, so it should be a lovely weekend! Happy Friday! 🙂
