Happy Friday! I will be starting my last semester of grad school on Monday, and it is finally hitting me that I will be done with school in just a few months! While I really do enjoy school and studying nutrition, I am so excited to have more free time to hang out with friends, blog, and enjoy life. 🙂 I will be taking my heaviest course load to date, though, so I’m really hoping that my three classes + thesis writing won’t be too overwhelming.
One of my girlfriends messaged me a week or so ago and asked if I wanted to run a marathon with her this May, and after a few days of thinking, I took the plunge and registered! It made me think back to my very first race, a 5k, which I was horrified to run considering the fact that I had never been much of a runner! Flash forward ~2 years, and it makes me happy to see that I conquered 2 half marathons, a 15k, and a 10k. While 26.2 miles does sound very intimidating, I found a training plan online that looks quite doable with my schedule: 4 runs a week, 1 cross training day, and 2 rest days. You can check it out here!
I am beyond excited to see temperatures above zero on the thermometer and in the forecast! I’ve never been a cold weather lover, but it was almost entertaining to see how ridiculously low the temps dropped during this whole Polar Vortex business! While it is so easy to complain about the weather and make comments such as, “Why on Earth do I live in the Upper Midwest?!” I read a great article that was an excellent reminder to be thankful for having a warm place to live and to pray for those who are out in that deadly cold weather! I cannot even begin to imagine what it would be like to sleep outside when it’s -20!
I came across this quote in one of the books I’m reading and thought it was worth sharing:
~”Be who God created you to be, and you will set the world on fire!”~ – St. Catherine of Siena
Now if that’s not inspiring, I’m not sure what is…:)
I let out an excited, “YAY!” when I saw that Francesca Battistelli has a new CD coming out this spring and one of her new songs is already playing on the radio. If you haven’t heard it yet, check out Write Your Story!
This week I discovered a new chip that I’m obsessed with…Wheat Thins Little Italy Roasted Garlic Toasted Chips. They taste amazing by themselves or you can doctor them up with cottage cheese or hummus. So. So. Good!
Last but not least…I did something last night that I’ve been wanting to do for quite some time…I made my very first YouTube video! Lately I’ve gotten so into listening to various speakers online, so I decided to add one more to the mix. Feel free to check it out! Again I have never done a video before, but it’s just one of those things I’ve always wanted to do so I thought, “Why not now?” 🙂 So feel free to check it out and give me any feedback – honestly, I love and appreciate feedback!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend! 🙂
