Happy Saturday! I just spent the past ~3 hours car driving across the state in a blizzard warning. Why, you might ask? I had a follow-up dentist appointment in my hometown this morning (read this post to get the background of my tooth saga), so I drove the ~180 miles home yesterday after work. The procedure today wasn’t nearly as traumatic as the appointment a few weeks ago, and I left the dentist office with a souvenir: a mold of my teeth…not quite as exciting as the balloon I used to get from my pediatric dentist…
My prayers go out to all of those who attended the March for Life this past week – what a wonderful experience that must have been! I got to watch Lila Rose’s “Crossfire” debate against Neral’s president, Ilyse Hogue, live which was a treat because I was at the gym running while mindlessly watching the overhead TV when I saw her name flash across the screen. There were times when I wanted to clap and cheer her on as she held herself with such poise without letting some of the snide comments seem to affect her. Thank God that there are such vocal advocates out there willing to support and defend life!
Not knowing very much about Neral, I decided to check out their website (knowing both sides of an issue is critical!) to learn more about this pro-choice organization and was shocked to find this following statement on a page entitled The Problem:
- Our opponents strongly disapprove of education programs that teach teens about birth control. Instead, they support dangerous “abstinence-only” programs.
I feel like I could write a whole blog post simply on this one bullet point, but I will leave my two cents to posing the question if someone is abstaining from sex, how is that more dangerous? End political rant…
On a happier note, today is the feast day of the conversion of St. Paul, the apostle. This feast day is a great reminder of our duty to evangelize! As Jesus told his apostles in the gospel for today, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.” We never know when our words might fall on someone like a Paul, and so it is so important to spread truth at every possible opportunity!
Yesterday before I left to drive home, I saw this video pop up on my Facebook newsfeed. After watching this ~8 minute clip, I was moved to tears by the selfless love that the woman in this clip demonstrated. Check it out if you need to let out a good cry! 🙂
My best friend emailed me at work one day to tell me about a new song that she had come across, and I fell in love with it. Give it a listen – it’s definitely one of those songs that leaves you feeling better after you listen to it! 🙂
I’d like to congratulate all of the bloggers who were nominated for a Sheenazing award (blogger award), and I’d like to offer a special congratulations to Jen (and Morgan!!) who got nominated for best blog link-up for hosting the Not Alone Series that I rave about almost every single week. I had a chance to look through some of the different blogs that were nominated, and there are definitely some amazing ones out there! This week’s Not Alone Series was probably one of my favorites so far as the topic was beauty, a topic that holds a pretty special place in my heart, so check out this week’s posts if you get a chance!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend! 🙂
